Dr. Gints Treijs is an obstetrician-gynecologist and reproductive specialist, as well as the founder of the reproductive medicine center Embrions. He was the first physician in Latvia to perform an ICSI procedure 30 years ago, marking the beginning of a new medical field in the country.
He specializes in the treatment of infertility, with particular expertise in complex cases. Dr. Treijs performs gynecological surgery, including laparoscopy and hysteroscopy. He provides consultations on all types of infertility issues, with a focus on complicated or long-term cases, and conducts gynecological ultrasound examinations, treatment of gynecological conditions, and prenatal care.
He also provides second-opinion consultations.
Dr. Treijs graduated from the Riga Medical Institute in 1985. He has worked at the Gynecology and Obstetrics Department of Kuldīga Hospital and the Gynecology Department of the “Linezers” Hospital. He performed his first assisted reproductive procedure in 1995 at the Latvian Family Centre.
He has further expanded his expertise through international training in Russia (Moscow), Germany (Bremen, Berlin), and Sweden (Uppsala).
Dr. Treijs is a member of the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology (ESHRE). For more than 20 years, he has served on the board of the Latvian Society of Human Reproduction, where he has been appointed an Honorary Member. He contributed to the development of clinical guidelines and has introduced numerous improvements in the field of reproductive medicine.
