Dr. Zane Vītiņa

CEO of Embrions, gynaecologist-reproductologist, childbirth, as well as obstetrics and gynaecological ultrasound specialist.

With over 23 years of dedicated experience in the field of infertility treatment, Dr. Zane Vītiņa is a highly respected expert in gynecology, obstetrics, and reproductive medicine. As the CEO of Embrions and Chief Physician, she specializes in providing compassionate care to couples facing infertility challenges. Through a combination of personalized drug therapy, surgical procedures (including hysteroresectoscopy), and assisted reproductive technologies (ART), Dr. Vītiņa tailors her treatments to meet the unique needs of each patient.

In 2024, Dr. Vītiņa was honored with a Certificate of Appreciation from the Ministry of Health for her significant contribution to addressing demographic challenges both in Latvia and globally. Her work has also earned her recognition in EuroHealth Leaders as one of Europe’s top five pioneers in the field of IVF (In Vitro Fertilization).

For a decade, she held the position of CEO and Chief Physician at the Clinic EGV.

Dr. Vītiņa’s experience extends beyond fertility treatment. She has a wealth of knowledge in pregnancy management, providing outpatient observation for expectant mothers, drawing on her extensive background in clinical practice. From 2003 to 2014, she worked at EGV Clinic and the P. Stradiņš Clinical University Hospital’s Department of Pregnancy Pathology and Obstetrics, further solidifying her expertise in obstetrics and high-risk pregnancies.

She also has a rich history of performing surgeries and providing gynecological care, including her time as an operating gynecologist at AIWA Clinic and Ādaži Private Hospital.

  • Medical Academy of Latvia/ Riga Stradins University, Faculty of Medicine ( 2002 and 2007 after post-graduate residency training acquired qualification in gynaecology and obstetrics, also awarded a certificate in gynaecological and fetal ultrasonography in addition to primary qualification – re-certified in 2012, 2017 and 2022)
  • University of Uppsala (Uppsala universitet), Sweden: graduated in ‘Quality Improvement in Perinatal Care’, distance learning programme
  • University of Roskilde (Roskilde Universitet) Hospital, Denmark – experience-exchange program
  • Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, London, UK – infertile couple treatment and extra-corporal fertilization, methods of in-depth fetal ultrasonography examination.

Public activities in the Latvian reproductology sector:

  • Co-author and head of the working group of the renewed guideline algorithms and methodical recommendations on the diagnostics of infertility, therapy and medicinal fertilization (2024)
  • Active engagement in obtaining state funding for the ovarian stimulation, puncture, vitrification of gametes for patients with oncologic diagnosis before chemotherapy. Since January 2024
  • Development and editing of the informative material on the possibilities of preservation of gametes for patients with oncologic diagnosis. 2023
  • Active work in frame of the LCRB Board and cooperation with National Health Service on the changes and expansion of the tariff classification for medicinal fertilization
  • Organizer and lecturer of the annual reproductology conference
  • Doctor eligible to teach, provides theoretic and practical training in reproductology for the doctors-residents specializing in gynaecology and obstetrics
