Dr. Sabīne Upmale – Engela

In 2016 graduated from the Faculty of Medicine of Riga Stradins University – obtained a doctor’s degree. In 2019  obtained an internist’s certificate and continued her studies at the residency of Riga Stradins University in the specialty of endocrinology – certified endocrinologist. Currently completing her residency in the specialty of andrology.

Diagnoses and treats internal secretion gland diseases (thyroid gland, pituitary gland, adrenal gland, pancreas, ovary, testis), diseases caused by metabolic regulation disorders (diabetes, obesity) or other changes in the endocrine system. Increasingly interested in the endocrine aspects of infertility, changes in sex hormones.

Regularly improves knowledge at Latvian and foreign congresses and courses. In the summer of 2026, she completed a clinical internship at the European Academy of Andrology (EAA) certified Centre of Reproductive Endocrinology and Andrology in Thessaloniki, Greece. The doctor gained advanced knowledge under the supervision of Professor Dimitrios G. Goulis, an internationally recognized specialist in reproductive endocrinology, Professor at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Director of the European Academy of Andrology (EAA) Training Centre, and former President of the European Menopause and Andropause Society (EMAS). She has increased her knowledge during internships in clinics in Germany and Austria. In October 2024, interned at the endocrinology department of the Universitätsklinikum AKH Wien.

In 2022 graduated from the ultrasonography course organized by the Association of Ultrasonographers of Latvia, therefore she specializes in the evaluation of thyroid nodules and the diagnosis and treatment of other thyroid diseases.
